The American Women of Surrey have donated £6,000 in support of Transform’s work with homeless young people.
Transform Housing & Support was one of three charities chosen to be supported by the American Women of Surrey during 2014/15. The club raised money throughout the year, including at events such as the annual Gift Fayre in November. Members of the club also donated Christmas gifts for young people supported by Transform.
This is the second year running that the club has supported Transform. This year’s donation will again support The Crescent, our housing project for vulnerable young people in Woking. The donation will support young people to get into training, return to education or find employment – for example by funding second-hand laptops.
Theresa Duckett, Housing & Support Manager at The Crescent, said:
“We are so grateful to The American Women of Surrey for their generous support for Transform’s work with homeless young people in Woking. The club has raised a total of £13,000 over the past two years, which is just incredible. Their kind donation will give specialist support to help vulnerable young people to access training, education and employment opportunities. We would like to thank all the members of the American Women of Surrey for their amazing contribution.”
Transform provides homes for 65 people in Woking, including at two specialist housing projects for young people.
The American Women of Surrey was founded in 1975 – it has since raised over half a million pounds for Surrey charities and now has more than 400 members. For more details visit www.awsurrey.org
