Brighton Marathon runners raise £1,800

13 April 2015

Four runners in the Brighton Marathon have raised more than £1,800 for Transform Housing & Support.

Cathy Cannon, Harry Hole, Carey Lamacraft and Georgina Pickworth all completed the marathon on Sunday 12 April. Between them they have raised £1,835 so far for Transform, to support our work with homeless and vulnerable people.

Cathy and Carey

Cathy was inspired to run the marathon by her mother Andrea, who lives in Ashtead and works for Transform as our Director of Client Strategy and Delivery. Cathy persuaded her friend Carey to join her in running for Transform.

Cathy explained why she and Carey chose to run for us:

“I came to support Transform through my Mum, who is incredibly passionate about the work which Transform does. This charity helps groups of people, whose need is often overlooked in society. Each person who benefits from the support of this charity is encouraged to see their own self-worth and is given the tools to give themselves a second chance at the life they deserve, and the life many of us take for granted.”

Harry found out about Transform through his girlfriend Jenny, who used to work for us in Reigate. Harry said:

“I have been aware of the wonderful work that Transform do for the past three years and am honoured that I am able to take part in the Brighton Marathon to raise money (and awareness) for them.”

Georgina chose to run for Transform because she wanted to help people who have nobody else to support them:

“I am a very lucky individual, in that when thing go a bit pear-shaped in my life, I have a fantastic safety net of support from all my friends and family, and other understanding members of the community. Unfortunately, not everyone has such fortunate circumstances, and when things go awry for them, they find themselves in a very vulnerable position. Transform is a charity that works in Surrey to help such individuals, who may have nowhere else to go.”
