Guildford client receives two awards

2 June 2015

A client of Transform Housing & Support in Guildford has been recognised for his volunteering contribution.

Football-mad Guildford client Matthew, received not one but two awards at the recent Guildford City Football Club, Annual Post Season Celebration. Matthew was presented with a crystal glass trophy for outstanding service as a volunteer and a certificate for Best Ball Boy.

Housing & Support Officer Graham Butcher from our Guildford team had this to say about Matthew’s achievement:

“Matthew has been volunteering at the football club for three years and really enjoys it. He is the first to arrive and the last to leave, he works really hard, and I think it is great that the club recognised his hard work by creating this award, and it’s great that Matthew is the very first recipient.”

Matthew spoke about receiving his awards:

“When my keyworker found me my voluntary job, I was over the moon, I love football, and to be given these awards feels great. I know I am appreciated by the players and the club, but it was a big surprise when they called my name! And then I was called up again! I thought it must be a mistake! I couldn’t wait to show Graham, I knew he would be pleased, I enjoy going to all the matches with the players and feel part of the team.”

In Guildford, Transform provides housing and support for over 60 clients, including people with learning disabilities, vulnerable young people and homeless people.  We support each person to develop their skills and build up confidence, which includes participating in voluntary activites in the community.
