Virginia Bottomley, Baroness Bottomley of Nettlestone, is a British Conservative Party politician. She was a Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons from 1984 to 2005. She was raised to the peerage in 2005.
Baroness Bottomley was a member of the Supervisory Board of Akzo Nobel NV for 12 years and is a Trustee of The Economist Newspaper. Virginia is Chancellor of the University of Hull and is a member of the UK Advisory Council of the International Chamber of Commerce. She has been Chair of the Board Practice at executive head-hunting firm Odgers Berndtson since 2000.
Baroness Bottomley is involved with a number of charitable and academic bodies. She is a Lay Canon of Guildford Cathedral, and a Freeman of the City of London. She was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey in March 2006 and Sheriff of Hull in 2013. Virginia has been a Patron of Transform since 2005.
